July 23, 2022: Fun day cycling the 70 miles over 9 hours to Ybbs an der Donau, Austria! With planned timing, we avoided every rain & thunder storm, cycling during the cloudy cool morning then during a beautiful sunny afternoon. Only stopped for a heavy-carb lunch in Mauthausen and afternoon gelato in Grein. Several older men cycling from Prague helped us when we got confused on directions, and we talked for a while. Then two men rode horses up to the gelato stand in Grein, feeding them ice cream cones! When we left, I mentioned I showed horses until I was 15. “Why did you stop?” asked one of the men. “I met boys,” I smiled. “You would have been better off with horses,” he laughed. “No kidding!” I said. We all laughed. We loved the two-bedroom room where we stayed in a new addition at the Gasthof Mang Inn in Ybbs.
